Grand Opening Scissors
If you’ve ever seen a grand opening ceremony on television, or have actually had the opportunity to attend one in person, you know that new business owners go to great lengths to make a good impression on potential customers. Everything that goes on in an opening ceremony – from what food is served to where security personnel is positioned – is typically carefully planned. New entrepreneurs have budget constraints and must make sure that each dollar out of their pocket is wisely appropriated. As such, they may choose to forfeit some additional expense by skipping out on extras like promotional cups for visitors to the event, expensive entertainment (as opposed to acquiring the services of a local band), etc. etc.
There are however, some elemental things which everyone expects to see at a grand opening party. One of these are the ceremonial ribbon cutting scissors. These massive scissors, easily measuring 3 feet or more in length, are used to splice a ribbon that surrounds the entrance of a new establishment. The act is symbolically representative of the establishment finally entering the business world. Since, as mentioned earlier, budget is a concern with these types of events, business owners need to be careful in going about acquiring their ceremonial scissors. If not, they might as well use them as the entertainment centerpiece to the event as there won’t be any money left to be used towards budgeting for this facet of the event.
When it comes to ceremonial scissors, there are two options to go about acquiring them. The first one is to rent a pair. This is the most cost-effective solution and makes logical sense if you don’t intend to keep the scissors on display or for some other sentimental purpose once the ceremony is over with. Depending on the size of the scissors you desire, don’t expect this to run you more than $100. If you would rather buy a pair, expect to budget between $200 and $400.
Where you will find yourself on the price spectrum depends yet again on the size and any of the bells-and-whistles that the scissors come with (ie. chrome platting, a presentation case, etc. etc.). While you’re out shopping for the scissors, it might be a good idea to go ahead and buy a display rack. This way, you can find a prominent location for the scissors inside your establishment for customers to oogle at while doing business with you.
