Eyeshadow is Good Business at Etsy
Have you ever thought of opening a store on the web so you could sell cosmetics like eyeshadow, lipstick, mascara, and other stuff. I think that all of us would agree that buying and using makeup is a lot different then selling makeup.
In the old days of the Internet (about 10 years ago) there were not that many distribution channels for a regular person to compete if you wanted to sell eyeshadow, for example. If you wanted to open an online cosmetics business, you had to purchase a separate merchant account and maintain it like a pro if you wanted to accept credit cards. Moreover, you had to spend a lot of money (that you likely did not have in the bank) advertising your site so that people would visit you and maybe buy from you.
The only real legitimate website for small business owners that was going strong in those days (between 1999 and 2001) was Ebay. But even Ebay had its quirks since there were limitations on the number of items you could sell as well as the fact that Paypal was not fully operational at that time.
Fast forward to today and you can see how far the web has come in terms of retail websites for small business owners who want to sell a few things here and there but don’t necessarily want to quit their day job. Etsy is a great website for people who want to buy or sell eyeshadow. Etsy is more known as a handmade jewelry and crafts site but it also caters to the cosmetics world as well.
If you wanted to sell eyeshadow on Etsy, you simply have to register yourself on their website and follow the simple instructions. You don’t have to worry about spending thousands of dollars on advertising because Etsy is very well established and everyone knows where it is. Of course, advertising does not hurt you and will obviously help you. But in the beginning, don’t spend a lot of money on advertising.
